Whetstone Instructional Support

Vision: We love children and we love ideas. We believe that Christian children and adolescents need a Christian education. We believe that a Christian education is the education of ideas, not merely information. We believe that Truth is a person. Christian Classical Education cultivates wisdom and virtue in students, encouraging their relationship with God, by nourishing their souls on ideas, including truth, goodness, and beauty, plus training students in the liberal arts (the three verbal arts in these classes) so that in Christ, the students are better able to know, glorify, and enjoy God.

Mission: The fourfold mission of Whetstone is

  • to help students grow, by means of a Christian Classical Education, to the measure of the fullness of the stature of Christ and, most of all, to have a relationship with Him;
  • to help teachers use the Lost Tools of Writing so their whole curriculum can be ordered to making disciples by cultivating in them the "human" skills of the verbal arts (i.e., the trivium);
  • to help parents give their students a home-directed education that will cultivate virtue and relationship with God; and
  • to help schools implement the ideas and values of Christian Classical Education.

College Placements: One measure of our success is the continuing educational success of our students after they leave Whetstone. A partial list of the college acceptances reported by our students includes:

Statement of Faith

We confess the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed of 381AD, as follows:

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, True God of True God, Begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father, by Whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man; And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; And ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father; And He shall come again with glory to judge the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke by the Prophets; And we believe in One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. We look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the age to come. Amen.
